Biker Club Makes School and Pupils Its Cause

Pupils at Bayvale Elementary School were prepared for the first day of school, thanks to the Dominant Breed motorcycle club.

Georgia - The club passed out nearly 150 bookbags filled with school supplies during the school's registration day Aug. 4. Each bag contained about $50 worth of supplies.

The giveaway was also a way for the club to kick off a partnership with the school, said president James Gray.

"Our club just created a program called Bikers With a Cause. The purpose of the program is to reach out to the school and the community and get involved in the lives of young people," he said.

Club members plan to participate in mentoring and other volunteer efforts at the school.

"Our goal is to make a difference at this school," he said. "We want to support our students and this school in any way that we can."

The school has welcomed the partnership, said Principal Dana Harris.

"I was thrilled that a group from the community wanted to get involved with our school," she said. "The old adage says that it takes a village to raise a child. This group is putting that saying into action."
