While I was in Texas this past week I was suprised to hear a radio message from the Texas Dept. of Transportion. The basic message gives a scene of a women in her suv not looking both ways and then back causing the accident with a biker , then the voice-over talks about how there are more bikers on the road then before and that looking back after checking once can prevent an accident. That and the signs along the road showing a picture of a bike saying share the road let's me know that atleast in Texas bikers are making their voices heard and the state is listening. Now when all the states do the same I will quit worrying about how much danger we are all in when we ride.

Be safe out there

All the cagers know how to read (hopefully) and most of the states I've been through in the pass year have been very agressive in promoting bike awareness programs BUT all of that don't mean a damm thing when the dumb asses are flying down the road with a cell phone stuck in their ear or in some cases I've seen reading a news rag or using a laptop.
I had one gal doing her makeup and texting on her cell phone in heavy morning rush hour traffic; blow a lite and dammed near hit me and two cars and she never even realized she had run the light.
Indiana has just put into effect a no cell phone law (eff: 1 July) that bans the use of cell phones unless they have a hands free setup in a vehicle. Been using a CB for 20 years in my rig and damm sure didn't have any of this kind of problem; but People today just don't pay attention.
Anyhow LIMO - Keep it between the white lines and sunny side up - Catch ya on the flip side.
PS Almost forgot to mention I got my new ride a couple of weeks ago. FLHTC

Thanks for the update Bill. I'm really glad to hear that some states are interested in safety.

I am from Austin TX and yes there seems seems to be an agressive attempt to make every one aware of all the bikes on the road these days due to economic conditions. I have seen the signs, heard the radio commercials and there are even TV commercials being broadcasted.

I believe they are all sponsored by www.tmra.org/

I was in Pittsburgh PA this last weekend and there are yard signs reading "Motorcycles are everywhere". Now all they need to do is train their dumb ass drivers what that means. I have never been charged at, flipped off, and cut off so many times in my life.
I guess thats how girls with one eyebrow (ear to ear) have road sex.
