Well the first week of otr training is in the books and what a week it was. It started Monday night, after meeting my trainer he had me drive for a while going to Modesto to deliver a load he picked up in Georgia. It took all day to get unloaded but we already had our next load.

Back down to so cal for one going to Kansas City,Ks. We had 24 hours to get there and then our next p/u was in K.C. going to Salt Lake City,UT. That one had to be delivered in 23 hours, are you seeing a trend here?

My drive shift was across Wyoming on highway 80 and as I was going over Elk Mountain it started to snow, now for a so cal person who has never driven in snow it was an eye-opening experience. What made it even more nerve racking is it's in a vehicle that weighed 60,000 pounds.

The next load was from SLC to Phoenix and that one had to be done in 16 hours after that there were no more loads until monday afternoon and we're going to Denver. One week down and two more to go for the first half of the otr training.

Not having acess to regular internet servers I will try to post as often as possible, until then be safe.

Doesn't that get uncomfortable with two of you in the drivers seat? Does one steer & the other shift?

Charlie it's called the 10 hour rule. While he drives I'm in the sleeper getting my required time off and as soon as it's up we change positions. I drive and he goes to sleep, therefore the truck never stops except for fuel and short breaks

Oh now I understand... you take turns in the drivers seat... I was thinking if you took turns driving and every time the other driver pushed in the clutch, you pulled the knob, hell no one would get any sleep. Just busting your balls... Glad to see there is at least one rider in those trucks with the big Harley mudflaps. Give us a yell when passing thru Nashville, we have plenty of truck stops with Patty Melts and fries.
