Couldn't agree more and I just found out that some of my ancestors were Cherokee from South Carolina. Having found this out gives this ride more meaning for me and gives me a reason to move this one to the top of my list. My sister is doing the research and told me that I'm one eighth Cherokee on my mom's side and because of where my grandfather is from we may be part Apache or Navajo too.

If you like 243 mile poker runs this is the one for you, It's long and very slow. I got in line at 4:30 am trying to get near the front but was probably 400 bikes from the front. Didn't do it this year because of the speed and so much traffic. If you haven't done it before it's well worth the trip to Chatanooga. The number of people along the route is unreal and al of them wave as you go by.

Nice to know that the public is friendly and suppports the ride. When you say slow are you talking speed or length of the line of riders?

Both, I think the speed was restricted to 35 or 40 and the line was more than 100,000 bikes. It makes for a very long day as you have to be in line early, long ride, then there is limited hotels near by. We began in Chatanooga then to Waterloo then to Birmingham to spend the night. Man that was a long, long day. But as I said earlier if you have not done it the trip is well worth it one time. Everyone should do Daytona in the spring - Sturgis - Trail of Tears - the Dragon - and the Blueridge Parkway. I'm sure there are other good rides that I have not done but these are a must.
